How VA math works
The VA does not simply add your ratings together. Instead, it uses the whole-person method (38 CFR §4.25): your highest rating is applied first, then each subsequent rating is applied to the remaining unaffected portion of your body. The result is rounded to the nearest 10%, with 5 rounding up.
